Alankuda Beach   Although all children and also adults seem to love being on the beach, sometimes you need to have some ideas for keeping you and the children entertained above and beyond swimming and building sand castles. Beach Volleyball and Beach Football which could be considered as a segment of the sport of Volleyball is gaining vast popularity and is progressing by leaps and bounds in Sri Lanka. On the Ilanthiadiya beach you can always set up your own version, improvising with windbreaks, picnic baskets or a portable badminton net.
Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's splendid medieval capital was established as the first city of the land in the 11th Century, A.D. It replaced Anuradhapura, plundered made desolate, and laid hopelessly bare to the invading armies from South India. Three Kings dominate the annals of the city and the period. The city reached a dazzling but pitifully brief zenith in the 12th century and though ravaged by invasion in the centuries following, much evidence remains of the old grandeur and glory.   Polonnaruwa Tour from Kalpitiya
Wilpattu National Park is located 26 km north of Puttalam (approximately 180 km north of Colombo) spanning from the northwest coast inland towards the ancient capital of Anuradhapura (50 km to the east of the park). It boasts an impressive variety of flora in huge expanses of forest, and varied wildlife, including deer, elephants, wild boar, sloth bears and leopards. Wilpattu is a fairly thick dry zone jungle interspersed with a number of flood plain lakes banked with delicate white sands.
